The lion and the mosquito

"Go away!" said a lion to a mosquito [комар] that was buzzing [жужжать] around his head. The lion was very angry. But the mosquito just laughed.
"Do you think," said the proud [
высокомерный] mosquito to the lion, "that I am afraid of you just because you are big?"
The next moment he flew at the lion and bit [
укусить] him on the nose. Now the lion was VERY angry.  He tried to hit [ударять] the mosquito with his sharp claws [острые когти] but, instead, the lion hit his own nose and made it bleed [кровоточить].

Again and again the mosquito stung [жалить] the lion who now was roaring [реветь] loudly. The lion hit himself so many times that, at last, he gave up [сдаваться] the fight.
The mosquito was very proud of himself and went away to tell the whole world about his victory over the King of the Forest!  He flew off quickly, laughing at the lion, and did not see the spider web [
паутина] above the lion's head.

And so, in the end, the little mosquito who defeated [побеждать] the King of the Forest was caught [поймал] and eaten by a little spider [паук].

🙊 Remember:  Pride [гордыня] makes us foolish [глупый]!
