Shigeru Ban lives in Japan. He is an architect. He is very famous (известный). He built (build: строить) many houses for rich (богатый) people. But he was not happy. He saw too many people who did not have houses. Who was helping them? Why didn’t architects help them?
One day Shigeru had an idea (идея). He wanted to try (пытаться) to make a house out of paper. Yes, paper! And he did it with huge paper tubes (бумажные трубочки). He went to places where there were earthquakes (землетрясения), floods (наводнения), fire (пожар) and war to build houses for people.
He is the only architect in the world who makes buildings out of paper. He makes houses, churches, museums, schools, music halls (музыкальные залы), community centers (общественные центры), emergency shelters (аварийные убежища) and other useful (полезный) buildings.
Shigeru is happy now. He is working to help people. Many people help him. When he builds a new building students and local (местный) people help him. People work together ( работать вместе ) and that is very good!
None of Shigeru’s buildings hurt (повредить) the environment.
